Despite this year’s milder temperatures, winter always brings a different rhythm to the inn. Once the leaves drop and the autumn crowds head home, winter arrives and brings its own special character. Although there are perhaps not as many outdoor activities on the schedule, winter means more sweaters, hot cider, sitting by the fire, cozy restaurants, holiday shops, wintertime discoveries, and snuggling up for long, dreamy nights.
Although weekends are still typically busy at the inn, and holiday crowds still bustle in the village until New Year’s, mid-winter days are quiet and are special for those looking for peace and piece of mind. Whether you’d prefer to get away and read a book in a comfy room, or escape and explore a New England-esque winter wonderland, we are here to help make that happen.
Our upstairs Plow and Harrow Suite has a gas fireplace, and is a warm, romantic getaway choice for the cold season. The Spirited Dove is also upstairs, has a jacuzzi tub and balcony, and is a cozy base for a winter adventure. Deer Hill and the Ryefield Suite are just as welcoming, and don’t forget our Fiddler’s Farmhouse if you would like your own unhosted farmhouse getaway.
Ask and we’ll provide a fire in the living room wood stove so you can relax and enjoy the crackle and warmth of a fireside cuddle. Leave the snow and the cold outside and enjoy a bit of hibernation the way generations before have done in our farmhouse.

We’re always on the watch for snowstorms. Like everyone else we have to hunker down for the bigger snowfalls by getting out the shovels, snowblower and salt. But after snowfalls the house and Rhinebeck area have their own historic winter charm, harkening back to winters centuries ago (or maybe back to your childhood). So bundle up and add some extra layers, because winter can be a special time if you’re a lover of the peacefulness it brings… after the snow!
