Hudson Valley Restaurant Week has Begun
The Hudson Valley abounds with some of the best locally sourced food and restaurants in New York State, being located near the world famous Culinary Institute of America “might” just a have a little bit to do with that. With many CIA graduates falling in love while attending school in the Valley, graduating and then deciding to settle down and start or run restaurants in the area.
Running 14 days, with 200 restaurants participating, this two-week celebration of culinary excellence is an opportunity for chefs to flaunt their best dishes, for diners to check out new spots and visit old favorites.
The over 200 restaurants throughout the Hudson Valley are offering special, three-course dinner menus for $32.95. Many also offer 3-course lunches for $22.95. (Plus beverage, tax and tip).
No passes, tickets or coupons are required. Diners browse the list of participating restaurants and call the restaurant directly to reserve a table. Reservations highly suggested at most restaurants.
Hudson Valley Restaurant Week includes restaurants from seven counties including Rockland, Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Columbia, Orange and Ulster, spanning 115 miles along the valley.

Olde Rhinebeck Inn’s favorite Irish Soda Bread Recipe
2 cups flour (can use all purpose, pastry flour, whole wheat, combinations of ) try adding a little wheat germ too.
1 tbs. sugar
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. baking soda
2 tbs. butter
½ cup raisins or craisins
1 large egg (beaten)
½ cup buttermilk (can substitute milk with 1 tbs. vinegar or lemon juice)
Preheat oven to 400
Line baking sheet with parchment paper
In a small bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt, baking soda
Cut in butter until only small specks are visible
Add raisins or craisins
Add egg, and milk, stir only till dough comes together will be slightly sticky
Scrape onto baking sheet, with floured hands, shape into ball, flatten, cut top in a traditional cross
Bake 30 minutes, until a medium golden brown.
